Blacklisted Lounge Graffiti
- Location: Mumbai
- Year: 2018
When the request to paint the Blacklisted Lounge came along, it was hard to say no. Commercials are the lifeline in rainy season for artists. Also, lounge graffiti ideas excite us specially when it comes with a theme. In this case, pick out all the infamous characters from history and do something wicked. So we called in the wickedest of them all graffiti artists – Zake.
This project was also really interesting as we had complete freedom to go wild, and as a result, we painted portraits of Saddam Hussain, Kim Jong Un, Gaddafi to go with the Blacklisted theme at the entrance.
As you move further in, there is a larger space for us to create a selfie spot. That’s where you see this Hitler graffiti coming out of the wall.
As the space opens up for seating and the bar area, you will see different sections separated by different artworks.
We made an anamorphic graffiti piece that spelled Blacklisted.
We had a tight schedule to adhere to, and Zake worked 2 days and 2 nights to get the job done in time. His faithful friend Dexter helped too.
We had to cover multiple areas ranging from entry passage, club area, selfie area. Even the wall structures were varying from rough brick walls, to framed L sections. This made the job particularly challenging as the design was mostly consisting of portraits, and the wall surface plays a very important role in transmitting the realism .
This lounge graffiti no longer exists in reality since the place shut down before the pandemic but it left us with important lessons in managing our projects better on timelines and budgets.
