Cafe Graffiti For Control Union Mumbai
If you are looking for cafe graffiti, then you have hit the nail on the head. A global conglomerate with offices across 70 countries, the Control Union office cafeteria in Mumbai is one of the best examples of a seemingly mundane place of relaxation being brought to life by hard core graffiti.
Please note, graffiti is technically a letter based artform associated with the hip hop movement and is primarily focused on representing the skills of a writer in expressing himself or his/her name. Many people unfortunately have labelled everything and anything painted on a wall as graffiti. If you are in the latter category and simply want some wall art designs for interiors, then check out our Interiors page.
Let's Have Some Fun Designing A Cafe Graffiti?
The cafeteria with two of its walls was made available to us. The idea with the first wall was to go wild with the graffiti while at the same time capture elements of the work that Control Union does – supply chain audits. We didn’t know the S of Supply chain so we filled the space with a drone and for the rest did whatever we would have done in any case. When we say we, we mean Zake ofcourse. The graffiti legend incharge of the project.
Having said that, it still took us a week to finalize the design because the definition of wild for the Control Union team had yet to be defined. Glad that it got through the way it did. Showed the level of trust their team had in Zake and Wicked Broz.
The second wall was much easier to design.
The theme was Mumbai and having bombed the city for years, Zake drew this blindfolded. Not literally, but you get the picture. Dabbawallah, local train and the Devnagri font for Mumbai.
The second artwork infact turned out so nice in that Mumbai font that till today, people ask us where it is so that they can go and click a selfie there. But we couldn’t ask them to all turn up at Control Union office, could we?
Murals are made many times in offices, but the specific graffiti style of fonts and random elements smashed into a doodle like this, it takes courage for a corporate to give you permission to do that on a commissioned project.
